Channels For Routine Calls

Resource

Different types of calls are made on different radio channels and mistakes can cause serious interference. If two boats are using a channel it is completely occupied.

Occasionally channel 16 may have to be used as the calling channel and the message passed on another channel, known as the working channel. Always call on the working channel or use DSC whenever possible to keep channel 16 clear of routine calls.
