The Tactician

The navigator works down below and the helmsman is, of course, on deck. The tactician moves between them. His job is to work out the best route from one buoy or waypoint to the next, and to steer the craftiest course to defeat the opposition. He spends most of his time watching the compass for windshifts and whispering instructions into the helmsman’s ear.

A tactician is there to talk, so you’ll have to bluff more than in most positions. Here are some good phrases to use, even if your motive is suspect:
